This is an platinum sapphire and diamond pendant necklace designed and made by up-and-coming jewellery designer Benjamin Hawkins. The pendant features a pear shaped diamond, a modified baguette diamond and a pear shaped sapphire from Sri Lanka in a vertical formation. The reverse of the gemstones has a full rub-over setting so that initials can be engraved on the back to complete the bespoke piece of jewellery. The necklace can be adjusted so that it can be worn at three different lengths.
From the age of fifteen, Benjamin practiced goldsmithing, before studying jewellery at the Goldsmiths Centre in the heart of London’s jewellery quarter. Ben flourished during his time at the Goldsmiths Centre, winning multiple awards in design and craft. On completing the course, Ben went under tutelage of the master craftsman Brian Joslin, before breaking off in 2014 to start his own company – Benjamin Hawkins London. Later that year, Benjamin was scouted to apply for a position at the Lee Alexander McQueen foundation, Sarabande, to boost the start of his career. He was accepted and moved into residency under the mentorship of the remarkable Shaun Leane.
