This is a wonderful 15ct yellow gold pendant from mid Georgian era. The pendant is a fine example of Georgian craftsmanship, from the gem-set crown, to the lovely white enamel detail on the elegant border. In the centre of the pendant, there is a rock crystal locket which is still in perfect working order. All of the gemstones are original and would have been hand cut in the 1700s.
The pendant is archetypal of the 1760s and like many jewels of this time it has drawn inspiration from the beautiful renaissance jewellery of the 15th and 16th century.
It is very rare to find a pendant of this age, which has been so perfectly maintained and although it is suitable for wearing we recommend taking good care of this, as it is a stunning piece of history.
