The quest culminates in the Battle of the Five Armies, influenced by Tolkien’s own experiences of the First World War. Exploring themes of courage and spiritual maturation, the novel can be viewed as a bildungsroman. This rare copy was published by Unwin Books in 1968 and includes a beautifully illustrated map and a pre-printed Tolkien signature. The cover is a copy of an early sketch by the author. We offer FREE UK delivery on all items. Orders under £500 are sent via Royal Mail 1st class recorded delivery and you should expect to receive your item within 1-3 days. Orders over £500 are sent via Royal Mail “Special Delivery – before 1pm” next working day delivery guaranteed.
Delivery outside of the United Kingdom (Worldwide)
We offer FREE worldwide shipping.
Orders under £1500 are sent via Royal Mail “International Signed For” and you should expect to receive your item within 5-10 working days.
Orders over £1500 are sent via FedEx and you should expect to receive your item with 1-3 days. Local taxes and duties may apply.
