Here we have a spectacular diamond moon crescent brooch dating back to the Victorian period. This curved frame has been crafted from silver and plays host to three rows of round faceted old and rose cut diamonds which graduate inwardly in size. The piece is finished with milgrain detailing at each tapered ending and a gold C clasp fastening on the reverse side.
The high diamond content on a medium sized brooch here makes for a rare find and a real treat for the wearer.
The crescent moon was an immensely popular symbol for Victorian jewellery lovers. It was a feminine symbol, celebrating the moon as a goddess and, by extension, embracing female empowerment. The crescent moon in jewellery also represented change due to the cycle and phases of the moon, as well as spirituality.
